It may be pretty to look at, intuitive to use and great for your media, but the iPod Touch isn’t particularly cheap to buy. And so opening up the box to find that once again Apple has “saved” by not including a dock is a bit of a kick to the teeth. Yes, you could pick up a new one from the Apple store, but where’s the fun in that? Instructables has plenty of guides for creating ghetto docks, but one of the more attractive ones - and a great way of recycling the Touch’s packaging to boot - is by user ari6126.

Building his DIY dock from the box that the iPod Touch actually came in, inside it’s a riot of sticky tape and hacked up cardboard. Still, on the outside it looks like a reasonable pedestal for your precious PMP to rest upon, and it should hopefully stop it from either getting buried under papers or, worse, used as a shiny coaster.

I wouldn’t want to spoil my beautiful iPod box. =D It’s kinda ugly, unless the box is sprayed white color.
And why doesn’t Apple include that cute little slip cover with the new iPods? I bought the I-touch and the new Nano and neither one has it.
Fifty bucks for a dock? And no cables or remote included. Come on Steve…
I’m with Karen on the slipcase thing. My iPod Video had one and I absolutely loved it. They should absolutely include those with all new iPods.
the worst thing about my touch is the crapy battery its sucks………………..

The box is so pretty. Looks like I would have to cut in to it and I don’t think I want to do that.
