Handwriting Recognition Could Make Its Way to iPhone, iPod touch
Posted on March 28th, 2008 in Apple |
Back in the 1990’s Apple’s Newton handheld device had a very high tech handwriting recognition system. When the Newton officially died, the handwriting recognition system went with it. However, more signs have been leading up to the possibility of this feature being developed into OS X and the iPod Touch/ iPhone.

A new job posting on Apple’s website reveals yet more technology that could be coming to OS X as well as the iPhone. The listing seeks a Handwriting Recognition Engineer that is well versed in pattern recognition, C/C++ coding, Cocoa programming and neural net algorithms.
This means Apple is searching for skilled workers who could possibly engineer a handwriting recognition feature to port to their computer line up as well as their Multi-Touch devices. More info on this topic will be released over the coming months.
