I was always told that money talks, and bullshit runs marathons, so its no surprise that when Vincent put up 10,000 credits for the forums-based points system that translates into money at the Apple-Touch store, there were people willing to risk bricking their iPod Touches just to jailbreak them. We are still expecting some more proof and hopefully a step by step guide of how they did it, but there are more than the standard Springboard apps on their Springboard, and the screens from both gentleman’s iPod Touches say iPod in the upper corner and lack the cellular icons.

Furthermore, we have video of one of the hacks. The forum member named Phoen!x was the first to complete the hack and post proof, followed shortly, as in 4 minutes later, by kewltechdude. Congratulations to both gentleman on hacking their iPod Touches.

Well, now that the iPod Touch can in fact be hacked in much the same way as the iPhone, the only real reason to buy an iPhone instead of an iPod Touch with a larger capacity storage volume, is for the cellular features. So if you can do without those and the camera, and the speaker, and would much rather have the extra 8GB of storage that the 16GB iPod Touch offers up, the decision has just been made a lot easier. Get to hacking!
