Last.fm music prediction via iPod Touch

Perhaps it doesn’t take much for you to fill up the 8 or 16GB capacity of your iPod Touch, but maybe you also have trouble finding new music to mix in there with old favourites. Last.fm has long been suggesting new music based on existing tastes for the desktop user; now, thanks to the coding skills of Sam Steele, with MobileScrobbler you can use the tracks that you’re listening to on your Touch (or your iPhone) to keep your Last.fm account up to date.

It requires a Jailbroken iPod, and you need to add http://dev.c99.org/iphone/ as a source to Installer.app. Once you’ve done that, MobileScrobbler runs in the background (leaving a music note icon in the status bar to show it’s running) updating your profile with the latest tracks you’ve listened to.
Hopefully we’ll next see a mashup of this with Pandora, as has happened on PCs and Macs, to not only suggest new tracks but start them playing over WiFi, too.

This is an amazing program, and just this one app is worth Jailbreaking my iPod.
