To bring mobile reading to the iPod Touch and iPhone ZappTek has announced “Legends” and ebook service. This service will be available for purchase in the Official App Store on July 11th. The App is free however, you do have to purchase the ebooks.

The ebooks will cost a reasonable price of $1.99 for short stories and $4.99 for novels. ZapTek also plans to partner with “today’s hottest writers” to distrubute new content using Ledgends and bring the reading experence to the iPod Touch. The interesting thing is that each of the purchased books appear as a icon on the Home screen.

The books can be read in portrait and landscape by using the accelerometer. You can also invert the display (white characters on a black background) by triple-tapping, and double-tapping zooms in on the text. Keep checking Apple-Touch.com for more iTunes App Store highlights.
