Microphone attachment for iPod Touch goes on sale

Looking somewhat more refined than the earlier proof-of-concept, Marian’s microphone and preamp for the iPod Touch - which plugs straight into the PMP via a hacked dock connector - is now available to buy for a mere $45 (or €30). Development on the project continues apace, with the latest focus on the communication between the Touch and the microphone widget to try to get the gain boosted automatically. With that achieved, Erica’s VNotes application (as shown complete with microphone attachment in the video after the cut) should be even more useful.
It comes as rumor spreads that the iPod Touch/iPhone v1.1.3 firmware update will include - among other things - an official Apple voice recording app.

Why not link the microphone to some kind of voice recognition software, allowing the iPod Touch to sevre as the media center for someone with visual impairments ?

I admit that I am not sure from where the wi-fi would come from — then let’s add Skyp too.
Why not use the FREE (outogoing only) skypeout and the FREE (incoming only) AIM Phonline and bridge them together for 100% free calls????? Hell, I’d be happy if it just worked on AIM Phoneline.
