Given the large number of look-a-like designs intended to, ahem, play homage to the iPod Touch’s stylings, we normally wouldn’t feature something so bland as RAmos’ V80.  However, while the 2GB, 1.3-megapixel camera-toting PMP may not shatter any expectations with its feature set, the Windows CE 6.0 OS does have one significant addition: it’s called WindTouch, and it’s Microsoft’s attempt to bring some of the intuitive gestures of the iPod Touch and iPhone to a traditional touchscreen.

Intended to offer a better, more Apple-like gesture-based UI to low-cost China-produced devices (that lack the budget for a full MultiTouch display such as used in the iPod Touch), WindTouch has the same left/right flicks to navigate through photo slideshows, but replaces the “pinching” zoom control with upward and downward finger sweeps.  A toggle-control flips between browsing through the images and panning around them.

Will it outshine the Touch?  No, not at all, but it’s unlikely that Microsoft are aiming to.  Instead, it’s an opportunity for low-cost PMP rivals to add another Apple-esque feature to the spec sheet, and erode a little further the UI lead the company has established.
