Apple’s iPod Touch 2.1 Firmware is now available for download via iTunes. This update is said to improve mass stability and add the new Genius feature to the iPod Touch. This Genius feature playlist creator will create songs that will go well with the selected song and create a playlist based on its components such as BPM and genre. This feature is very solid and will get better every week as it updates your Genius algorithms.

- improved email reliability, notable fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts

- fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes if you have lots of 3rd party applications

- When viewing songs it says Artist And Album underneath the Song title.

The 2.1 Firmware is available for free download if you have purchased the 2.0 and is only 9.95 if you have 1.x software.

If your iPod is jailbroken will this firmware still be able to be downloaded with no negative effects afterward? Or should I restore the iPod first before downloading? Also, will iTunes 8 disable a jailbroken iPod? I know they’ve disabled ‘pwned’ iPods.. I’d just like some clarification!! Thanks in advance!
