It is now official, HBO is allowing their shows to be on iTunes. As of now only select shows are available, The Sopranos, Sex and the City, Rome and The Wire are now available for download. However, HBO is breaking iTunes standard pricing rates and The Sopranos (as rumored) will be priced at $2.99. Apple indeed has stepped down from their strict pricing rules so this might mean more channels who were not into iTunes price restrictions now will try to offer their content at similar prices.

UPDATE: Deadwood ($2.99) and Flight of the Conchords ($1.99) are also available with “much more” apparently in the works.

If you are a fan of the current HBO lineup and want a mobile way to view some content, now you are in luck. HBO has now started to provide iTunes with some of its bonus content from most of its shows. however, as of now there are no plans to provide full HBO shows on iTunes.

This is defiantly the week of Web Apps, Google is now making its popular RSS reader “Google Reader” newly optimized for the iPod Touch and iPhone. It comes with a new interface and some new features although this is a BETA so Google is trying to find out what works and what doesn’t when it comes to Web Apps.

Schmap is a publisher of well over 200 free online travel guides. They have now made all of this handy information available via a new web app. The site has travel guides for the US, Europe, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand and proves to be extremely useful for any tourist.

If you are looking to rent a car and only have your iPod Touch and a Wireless Connection then you are now in luck. Payless Car Rental has released their iPhone and iPod Touch Optimized version of their site.
Now you can rent a car in three easy steps via the nice touch interface of Apple’s Touch devices. If you have an iPhone the site has a nice “Call To Book” button that when pressed will quickly get you talking to Payless Car Rental salesperson and get you a rental car.

NBC has now made it possible to stream their content on iPod Touches and iPhones. They have now decided to skip the iTunes process altogether. Last year NBC decided to be withdrawn from iTunes over pricing disputes but now their content is available for streaming online.

While these shows are only available to users in the U.S., they are ad free and streamed in QuickTime format so they can be viewed on Apples Touch devices. To start viewing NBC shows simply go to NBC.com and click on the video tab, the site will detect your on a Touch device and bring you the ad free shows at the tap of a finger.
