Today while in the mall snagging my MacBook from the Apple Store after some much needed repairs, I needed to check on my finances. Which meant of course, I whip out my handy dandy iPod and take a look at my Paypal. Only to come home and see that Paypal is warning users against doing exactly that.

Apparently Safari isn’t offering quite enough protection to make it safe to view your Paypal on the iPhone or iPod. Now, they warn against Safari in general, however, Mac users can easily download Firefox and avoid such things. Those of us on iPods and iPhones have no other option than to wait till we are on an actual computer.

The root of the issue according to PayPal is that Safari doesn’t support the Extended Validation Certificate. Which is the technology that turns the address bar green when you’re visiting a safe site. All that in mind, there is the route of just making sure you’re careful what sites you go to, however, that doesn’t always work.
