Various sites are jumping on this review of Sony’s Ultraslim PMX-M70 - currently on sale as a China-only PMP - and discussing it as a potential rival for the iPod Touch.  Sony have certainly spend some time on the device’s appearance, with it measuring 74.4 x 16.7 x 12.7mm and weighing just 129g, but many are reporting the M70 has an iPod-competing touchscreen whereas in fact all control is done by a small joypad on the right-hand side.  Nonetheless, held up against the iPod Touch the 4.3-inch screen is pleasantly spacious, although a resolution of just 480 x 272 is disappointing.

Available priced at around €220 (£323) and in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB versions with MS Duo port for expanding storage, the PMP manages 5hrs of video playback and 20hrs audio.  Le Journal de Geek found that while it was not as slick a performer as the Archos 605, they used it more because of its pocket-friendly build.  I imagine there’ll soon be importers offering the PMX-M70 if it floats your boat.
