Ever since the 2.0 Firmware update many have been complaining of the overall stability of 3rd party iPhone and iPod Touch Apps. Most of the updates, Similar to 2.0.3 released last week, have led people to belive they are working on this problem. Some of the general stability issues has been solved, however, this update promised to be released in September with the next firmware update might finally be the stability we have all been waiting for.

In a email from Steve Jobs (or someone speaking on his behalf) has confirmed this was a major iPhone Bug and plans to be fixed. Steve is known for responding to select few emails that always give much need information. An example of this was back in October of last year he confirmed that there was going to be an SDK “released” in march.

“Many report the iPhone 2.0 firmware suddenly failing to load non-default apps regardless of their nature, briefly loading them before abruptly jumping back to the home screen.

The bug occurs both with freshly downloaded software and with updates, but is reported as never having a definite fix; although some report successfully deleting and re-downloading apps to regain access, others find the solution either having no effect or gradually decaying over time to where the apps again fail to run. Restoring the iPhone also seldom works.”

He responded with one line stating, This is a known iPhone bug that is being fixed in the next software update in September.”
