Social Sites awaiting iPod Touch SDK, No Flash

The iPhone Started as an Internet Tablet

The New York Times’ John Markoff has stated that the iPhone’s life began as a “Safari Pad”. He states… “Apple’s multitouch technology began life not as a cellphone, but as a notepad-sized skunkworks project internally dubbed Safari Pad, run by Tim Bucher, then Apple’s head of Macintosh hardware. To his credit, Mr. Jobs seized on the technology and morphed it into the iPhone.”

PayPal warns users against Safari

Today while in the mall snagging my MacBook from the Apple Store after some much needed repairs, I needed to check on my finances. Which meant of course, I whip out my handy dandy iPod and take a look at my Paypal. Only to come home and see that Paypal is warning users against doing exactly that.

More (Restricting) Details on SDK

Apple being the enterprise they are, are planning to heavily moderate the apps that will be available for download via iTunes. The whole point of an SDK is for third party developers to put their apps on devices. With Apple’s SDK, Apple wants complete control of what Apps make it onto the iPhone and iPod Touch and complete control of all of the iTunes distribution.

SDK Event March 6th at 10 AM

Apple has now sent out invitations for an event next Thursday morning regarding the SDK announcement. At the event Steve Jobs is going to show how the SDK can be used for business and personal use, and a demo of the process.

Apple has released iPod Touch Firmware 1.1.4

Live TV on iPod Touch Soon

Pocket Video (PV) has announced a Mobile Broadcast Receiver that is compatable with the iPod Touch. It will turn any Wi-Fi enabled phone or media device into a mobile television. Apparently the device decodes a digital TV signal and makes it viewable on mobile devices.
