There is now finally proof and a video showing the iPod Touch calling a phone line. There have been rumors for months trying to port a service like Skype to the iPhone and also trying to mod some hardware to allow the iPod Touch to have a mic.
The SIP application requires extra hardware because of the iPod Touch’s lack of an audio-in port on it. To have the iPod Touch support they are selling the microphone as well.
This will brighten the future of the VOIP industry, which hasn’t been in a hurry to port their applications for the iPhone. Although this video is about the iPod Touch eventually it will go to the iPhone without hardware modifications. To watch the video click here.
